Dorky is Beautiful

Is it weird that I find dorky women attractive? The Amy Santiagos, The Fleabags, The Holly Flaxs.  Is it it just me or does every other person fall for these people. I mean look at you.. if someone said that the smartest most opinionated and the most weirdest woman I ever knew would fall for me one day I'd laugh at their face. Turns out, being outright smart is not the only thing attractive about you. What's even more attractive is your dorkiness.. your awkward social skills and the fact that you choose to flaunt it with so much pride. Or the fact that you chose to be with someone like me... Everything about you is weird.  You know when was the time I decided you're the one? It's at that new years party we met for the first time. I saw you walking out to the balcony looking for a lighter, hoping someone said smoking kills.. you were lucky ( or rather I was) to find me there.. cursing myself that I should stop smoking soon. We shared cigarettes, had a good laugh, a fun ...

Time stood still

I like things old school. Everything. Like my music choices.. I am more of a Simon and Garfunkel/Beatles guy than a  Coldplay/Maroon 5 guy. I am more of a pather Panchali/Kabhi kabhi guy than a Rangeela/Dabangg guy. I am more of a talk to her first then ask her out guy. Maybe that's why I took two years to even say a hi to you. We'd often go to the same park to run. It's a different story that I went there just to see you. Not in a creepy way. Never. When I saw you for the first time at the  society general store was when I knew I wanted to marry you. It took a whole lot of coming to the store regularly/waiting outside store/ volunteering to collect Ganesh Chaturthi money from the society to find out which apartment you lived at.  When you drew a ❤️ next your name in the receipt was when I realised you were interested in me too.  And then you shouting out loud that you go running every morning confirmed my theory.  Then began the saga of daily morning ritu...

Untangling the knot

I had been to the beach last night. Sat in the place where we often sat. There was a kind of emptiness. The sound of the waves hitting the shore didn't really hit the right kind of note it would hit when I were with you. As I sat and watched the moon slowly getting swallowed by the waters, I realised how much similar our lives was to the moon and the sea; the mutual attraction both of them have towards each other. How the sea jumps in joy at the sight of the moon every night and how the moon falls for this hyper excited, 'perpetually in a valence state' sea, that it can no more resist the energy of the sea and eventually gets gulped by it.  I am unable to bear the pain of separation. I have never been this dull and silent, like the silent seas during new moon.  I started walking back; I turned back to see if you were walking next to my footprints on the sand. I didn't see a second pair of footprints next to mine. I had a sense of emptiness and a sense of turmoil inside...

Vulnerable

I am a very guarded person. I always have my shield up so high. It's almost impossible for a person to penetrate into the bubble I've created for myself. Probably my past life experiences of having cared for too much, probably having let in people very easily into my life and having been disappointed and hurt, or maybe it's just that I am that kind of a person; a seemingly jovial, extremely difficult to offend, and a man with an obnoxiously infective laughter who gets awkward and cracks stupid jokes around people and situations which evoke a sentimental response.  But when I am with you, I feel like a whole new person. I feel like this sixteen year old kid who is madly attracted to this girl he just met. I feel like letting down all my guards, throwing them away. Actually, I don't want that guard to be anywhere close whenever I am around you.  I don't know what school of romance or love I belong to, but right from the time I have met you, I felt like telling you the...

Jackpot

I am someone who hates people scribbling on books. Especially if it's books borrowed from a library. Especially if it's a book that I'd been wanting to read for a long time. And if it's scribbled with a pen, I find such people monstrous. As I opened this book I'd borrowed from the library, I couldn't but notice how much you'd scribbled. There was a note on almost every page of the book. I initially cursed you for that. Gave you the choicest of the scoldings.  It was when I read the notes you'd made when I could get an insight into your mind. The English dictionary has no words to describe those tiny notes you'd written in the most ugly handwritings ever. Started wondering if you're a doctor. But I'm glad you're not.  Had to bribe the librarian to let me know who the borrower was.  You must've thought I was the most absurd creature ever to walk in to your office and ask you outon a date. That was the kind of impact your notes had.  Yo...

Jhumka

This is not possible. This is absurd. This cannot be happening. I used to hate you so much. I despised you. You were always mean to me. To put it simply, you were an asshole.  It was absurd that I found myself drawn to you so much. You had become extremely irresistible to look away from. Be it in class, be it back in the society, be it in dance class or be it in those boring parties. I used to despise your existence. You always beat me at everything. And it all came naturally to you (or so I think). I had to put in so much effort each time to even get closer to you. We were planning on having a hate club in your name. Like the I hate Rachel club.  All of a sudden, I would look forward to your arrival. I was lucky to be seated in the last bench. I can keep staring at your jhumkas all the while. Sometimes I'd get this urge to walk up to you and flick those jhumkas. During lunch break, while your talking to your friends, I would get drawn to come to you and tuck your fringe behin...

Raincoat

There is something so endearing about rains and us. Right from our first date. It was a rainy evening and you were a good 30 minutes late and couldn't be more sorry. To this day you continue to be late; though you're not as sorry now :/  Our first date was quite an eventful one. You stormed into the bar angry, agitated, cursing the rains. You walked in wearing a raincoat. I was like who the fuck uses a raincoat these days. But once you got off the raincoat you looked drop dead gorgeous.  It took 2 drinks and a fuck ton of ranting about the rains for you to calm down and smile finally. And another couple of drinks to get chattier and a few more to unleash yourself. Do you even remember how drunk you were? We had to leave your bike at the bar and get you a cab. You wanted to talk more and I got onto the cab and madam started snoring  within two minutes.  Have I ever told you how beautiful that nose ring is? Million stars on the sky wouldn't be enough to beat that diamo...
