Phenomenon

 I was having lunch with a bunch of college friends the other day. It was great catching up with them after all these years. Some things never change, don't they?I was asked about you. They had so many questions to ask. How we met; where we met; how did I know you were the one. What do I feel like when I am around you. 

While I had fairly simple answers to most of the question. The last question was quite a tricky one. Not because I didn't have an answer; but because it's not simple. It can never be simple. 

What do I feel like when I am around you. I feel like Magic. Yes. I get this surreal sense of being in a dream land. It's so many feelings. All at once. I feel like a child who just won the golden ticket to the chocolate factory. Ecstatic and elated. I feel like the world is a much better place when you're around. Much like how most people feel when you're around. 

I feel like time stops when you're around me; at the same time, it feels like time just flies when you're around. I feel a sense of calmness when you're around. At the same time, my heart beats faster than ever before. Everything around becomes a blur when you're around. I can only see you. I can only hear you and I can feel only you. It's like you engulf me with the wonderful phenomenon that is you. 

And talk about how my heart behaves when you're around. It's like a galloping horse trying reach the finish line at the horizon. 

Until I met you, I never really understood what having butterflies felt like. And now, it's like a colony of butterflies inside my stomach. It's hard to believe that such a person as you exists. Feels like a dream. A dream from which I never want to wake up.

Irish philosopher Iris Murdoch once "Love is the extreme difficult realisation that something other than oneself is real." Perhaps if she had met you, she wouldn't have said that it's a difficult realisation. For you're the most beautiful realisation and proof of all things real. 

Every time I think of you, every time I receive a text from you, every time I get a call from you, every time hear your voice, every time I see you, every time you hold my hand, every time you kiss me, everytime you hug me, every time you berate me, every moment and every second I spend with you, is the most wonderful realisation that you are real and that you exist. 

My friends would never have imagined that I finally found the kind of person I was looking for. When I was taking about you, I could sense a joyous and gleeful grin on my face. I could feel my face flush, I could sense a great amount of energy run through my body. It's the same kind of energy I have been having all these years. 

Probably it's that smile that made me fall for you so much; probably your dimples; probably your eyes with all the mascara. (I've said this before and I'll say it again, you don't need the mascara, the eyes are already intoxicating; probably your voice; probably your touch. Who am I kidding, all of these are what made me fall for you. 

So yeah, it is not a simple answer how I feel when you're around. You make me feel like they most important person on this planet. I'm a different man when you are around. It's like you hava cast a spell around me making me a better human being. 

While I agree with Murdoch that Love might be a difficult realisation; loving you has made me believe that while it may be difficult, it definitely is a happy one. 

You my love are indeed a phenomenon.
