First Love
This May 17th we're gonna celebrate our 15th weddings anniversary. Isn't it strange how our relationship has evolved over the past several years. It seems like I met you just yesterday. I know you never agree with this, but I am now pretty certain that yours was love at first sight. The turn of events that led to our first encounter and the events that happened that day are quite unforgettable.
You came running to save me from getting ragged by seniors. After getting bullied and yelled at by seniors, you finally were able get me off telling that you needed me to help you with the annual day preps. I don't know what kind of charm you'd cast on those seniors that they sent me with you so easily.
'Take my number and the next time you're getting ragged just give me a missed call. Also, nice dimples'. These were your exact words. That was when I knew you had a thing for me. The next few days were quite interesting. The way you'd find some reason and call me to the students' union room.
Btw, I know that you were the one that was howling and hooting while I was dancing on freshers' day.
You were not really subtle in putting across what's on your mind. I had the first experience of that when you asked me to walk you back to your hostel after the freshers' party: loudly in front of the whole college. That's when I knew we were gonna kiss that day.
From then, the rest of our time together in college was quite breezy. Your random visits to the boys' room, those kisses stolen, those ice creams shared, those long dates in McDonald's, those weekend getaways, those teasings. the fairy tale.
Come to think of it, ours is quite an unconventional love story. There was no official.asking out on date. There has never been gifting of roses or chocolates, no mushy, extremely cheesy/corny bollywood type dialogues. All we had was two people hopelessly in love with each other; two people where ridiculously comfortable with each other (you burped right after our first kiss you dork; and I farted on our third date); two people who were so easy going that we'd go days without talking to each other and still be fine with it, because we knew, that our love was so strong.
The best part of our relationship were those letters exchanged. I remember distinctly that the first time we said 'I love you' was 3 years after we had.become exclusive.
You were the most easy going, comfortable, beautiful and the most short tempered girl I ever came across. The first and the last girl I ever fell in love with.
Like I said, our relationship has evolved so much over the years. From liking each others' company to loving each other, to saving each others' asses and loving each other even more as the days pass.
I cannot put to words how much I love you. In all those fights, during all those years when we were a long distance couple, in all those arguments about who changed our kids' diaper the previous night, in all those stolen glimpses, I loved you. And I continue to love you to this day.. even after you're gone!!
